Establishing criteria for standardized, more aggressive enteral nutrition, with a start of trophic feeding within the first 24 hours and the gradual advancement of enteral feeding, appears to have a positive effect in preventing postnatal malnutrition in preterm and low birth weight infants. The aim of this study was to synthesize the knowledge evidenced in the scientific literature on early enteral nutrition, trophic and fast diet, comparing several studies on the subject. It is an integrative review, with research with secondary data collection. The scientific articles of this study belong to the LILACS and MEDLINE databases, with the following descriptors: “infant premature”, “nutrition therapy” e “recommended dietary allowances”. Early and fast nutrition promoted weight gain, neurological development, faster full nutrition, reduced hospitalization, and necrotizing enterocolitis, among other outcomes.
