Ejercicio físico combinado y la reducción de la rigidez arterial en personas mayores saludables

Resumen

La rigidez arterial es un indicador del envejecimiento vascular y está asociada con el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares y la mortalidad. Se han estudiado diversas intervenciones para reducir dicha rigidez, destacándose el ejercicio físico combinado. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar los efectos del ejercicio físico combinado en adultos mayores sanos. Tras una revisión en las bases de datos PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science y Lilacs, se encontraron 2.598 artículos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 4 por cumplir con los criterios de elegibilidad, totalizando 174 participantes, siendo 69 hombres y 105 mujeres, con edades a partir de 60 años. En el 75% de los estudios (n=3), se observó una reducción de la rigidez arterial o una mejora de la elasticidad arterial. Se concluye que el ejercicio físico combinado puede reducir la rigidez arterial en adultos mayores sanos.
