Resumen

As características da Amazônia dependem, em grande medida, da extraordinária abundância e circulaçãode água. Ainda assim, pressões exercidas pelo desenvolvimento econômico têm comprometido seriamente os recursoshídricos regionais, através da expansão agrícola, da construção de barragens e da mercantilização do meio ambiente.A melhoria da gestão de recursos hídricos está fundamentalmente relacionada a novas bases de produção econômica,padrões tecnológicos e redistribuição de oportunidades sociais.
